Market your property on HouseTrip – Tips on hosting – Part 1

25 Mar

Description TIPS

After what feels like an incredibly long winter of cold, grey and even the occasional snowstorm I can honestly say I am now ready to come out of hibernation, dust off the summer clothes and get into spring.  Here at the London branch of HouseTrip, we can’t wait to get outside and enjoy our first picnic in the park…the mood around town is changing, sunglasses are being donned and the restaurant tables are being moved back onto the pavement.  For the last few weeks I have been so jealous of our Lisbon team calling us every day and talking about their plans to hit the beach at the weekend!  But now for the rest of Europe, and those of us un-lucky enough not to enjoy amiable all year round temperatures, attention is turning to spring and summer travel, with plans to go on long weekends and discover new places starting to take shape.

This time, as the seasons are changing is the perfect opportunity for you to make the most out of your properties. If you’ve already listed your house or apartment on HouseTrip, it means you’re a smart bunny and understood how you could easily make money without too much effort! If you haven’t, maybe because you’re not sure about how to best promote your place, we’re here to help.

To get started, the most important thing is to describe your place in the best possible way.

You probably already know this by now, but make sure you inspire people when you describe your property. Make them want to stay forever in your home. I know they’ll have to leave at some point but remember the most important thing is to write in a cosy – authentic – and friendly way. J

It’s all about making people dream…

TIP 1: Give your house a personal Name that reflects its personality! Your property has a soul

Think about it, would you rather go to “Paris apartment 33” or to “Authentic Matisse Artsy flat”?

Our top 5 property names as per today are:

  1. Secret Garden

2.The pianist alcove

3.Sleeping beauty

4.London Funky Fire apartment

5.Trendy Angel

TIP 2: Make them dream! Why should they pick your property rather than someone else’s?

What people love is to know what will be at their doorstep…  I can’t say it enough – you have to make them dream! Think about what’s cool and useful in the surrounding areas. It’s always good to tell them that they will be close to the touristic activities but always remember that if they decided to rent a property on HouseTrip, they probably want to avoid being considered as tourists.

“The traditional local Boucher’s will make you laugh and he offers the best meat in town”

“Just step outside your door and lose yourself in some of Paris most romantic little streets”

“Go for a long walk along the canal and end up in Frank’s tearoom for a slice of yummy lemon and strawberry cake”

These are the kind of things your future guests want to know about.

TIP 3: Some fun or historical facts about your place will always grab people’s attention too!

“Picasso’s daughter is our neighbour…”

“We have a squirrel family living in the garden”

“The apartment is in an ancient building formerly owned by an Indian Maharaja who lived in Spain for 10 years…”

There will be, of course, many more tips to come so watch out for our next blog post.

Love , peace and happy HouseTrip
